Our 40th Fetish Fair Fleamarket Experience (Feb 15 – 17, 2013)

We had a great time at the 40th Fetish Fair Fleamarket this weekend!

Taking the train up there Friday afternoon, while pricey (go figure, it’s Amtrak!) it was well worth getting there without having to sit in traffic like several of our friends ended up doing who either took the bus or drove.

The conference hotel, the Omni (formerly, the Westin), was just a few block away from the train station so walking over there was easy. Greeted by the friendly and smiling faces of the hotel and conference staff we checked in without a hitch and headed to our room. Very nice and clean rooms (recently fully redone, I think) – definitely a major plus at any conference.

After a drink in the hotel bar, Friday night we went for dinner with friends at Joe Marzilli’s Old Canteen Italian Restaurant in the Federal Hill neighborhood of Providence, just about 8-10 blocks away from the conference hotel. Homemade style Italian food at its best. I highly recommend this place and would go back.

I taught three classes at the event this year. On Saturday, in the early afternoon I discussed “Bonding and Spirituality in D/s and M/s Relationships” and early evening I gave the demo “Interrogation: The Border Between Play and Reality”. Hot tip: Giving a class on interrogation gives you an excuse to do terrible thing to wonderful people and still get away with it. Many thanks to @MistressAmiko @FridayBlaise and @Bendyogagirl for offering your sexy bodies to “mad science” :-)

Saturday night, after the interrogation class, I went for dinner with my “interrogation subjects” at Centro, the hotel restaurant. We were impressed with the service, menu and delivery at this place – and also for the fact that the servers dressed up specifically for the event, wearing some form of fetish wear. A very nice and fun touch for sure.

After dinner I hosted the New Yorker Meet & Greet in one of the rooms in the vending area. It was fun to meet with a nice group of New Yorkers, and others who have the hots for us, and share our lifestyle experiences and backgrounds. Afterwards, I took the opportunity to cruise the vendors who were still open, some of which stayed open until after 10PM! Many thanks to @angelwrong and @OwhipMe of OWHIPS for letting me try their fine Axel signal and bull whips.

Assisted by @MistressAmiko and @FridayBlaise (I guess they didn’t learn how bad I can be from the interrogation class!), Sunday afternoon I spoke on “The Anatomy of Play Scenes: Preparation, Construction and Execution”. This is a new class in which I explore the structures and dynamics of different kinds of scenes, from the lighter to the more heavy ones.

This is wonderful event to present at with large, well-equipped rooms with full PA systems and platforms, and a staff facilitator there all throughout. With around four thousand people attending the conference, each class easy gets over 150 people. I much enjoyed how interactive and engaged the audience was all throughout, making it a true joy to present.

One of the best parts of an event like this is to meet new friends and to hang out with good ole ones. It is you guys that make an event special for me. Thanks to all of you for a wonderful time this weekend (I apologize in advance if I miss listing someone here): @MistressAmiko @FridayBlaise @bendyogagirl @Mastertosusan @slavesusan @Roughinamorato @Midori @Max_BLC @ChrisMarks @LadySabrina @submale9992003 @Flick164 @Viviane and many more!

I highly recommend the Fetish Fair Fleamarket to anyone in the lifestyle scene, newcomer to experienced alike. If you have not attended this event make sure to come next year – and, If you have attended it in the past make sure to come again next year!

In leather and friendship,

Eric Pride
